So who is Michael Phelps? He was a regular kid who struggled with an irregular condition and the divorce of his parents. He's young, he excels at what he does and like the rest of us, slips up once in a while.
And what life lessons do his struggles and successes hold for us?
Deal with your own issues effectively -- Michael certainly dealt with ADHD and his parents' divorce that way. His mother helped him cope up with his condition and channeled his energy into what he loved.
Cut out the drama -- Michael's story is inspirational but at the same time, neither the young man nor his family have exploited their experiences to sensationalise his life. They've told it like it is.
Zero in on your strengths and overcome your weaknesses -- He was less than an average student at school, but Michael was a passionate and dedicated student of his sport. The young swimmer is known to have studied tapes of his races over and over, zeroing in on mistakes and working towards bettering himself constantly. Excellent is still not good enough.
Remain focused on your goals -- At the Athens Olympics back in 2004, Phelps was beaten by teammate Ian Crocker beat in the 100m butterfly. He put up a poster of Crocker in his room to motivate him and keeps a list of his career goals beside his bed.
Pursue what you love with passion and put in a genuine effort -- Phelps' dedication to swimming was apparent back when he was nine and began to break national records in his age group. His commitment to what he does has grown with him.
It's not just his career and his unbelievable performance at the Olympics that classify Phelps as a winner -- it's his story of inspiration that makes him a real champion, a youth icon, somebody to look up to.

Scary things
"Eleven things that scare me the most"
What are the things that scare Ram Gopal Varma? Here, he lists 11 things “which scare (him) the most.” Over to the master fear-jerker:
(1) To be closeted in pitch darkness. (I would like to see what is about to kill me. It will be pretty dumb to die without knowing that.)
(2) Travelling alone on lone highways in the night. (God knows where it suddenly might lead to.)
(3) Being alone on a deserted beach. (I have this nagging feeling that something is lurking just under the water, just waiting to catch me alone.)
(4) Some women who don’t know anything and don’t listen to me about anything. (I so wish to God that he makes them with a built-in remote control.)
(5) The spirits of whoever died in the cast and crew of 'Sholay'. (The police can protect me from the living, but who will protect me from the spirits?)
(6) People who are my well-wishers and can’t stop advising and patronising me. (They just make me feel as if I am dying or dead.)
P.S: I love the critics and the people who hate and bitch about me and my films as atleast they make me feel alive.
(7) Children, because they take the attention away from me and also keep making me realise that I am as kiddish as they are.
(8) Police-men, because I have this nagging feeling that I am a criminal somewhere deep inside and they will some day find out.
(9) Criminals, because I feel one of these days they might just think that I am letting too many of their trade secrets out and… well!
(10) Karan Johar’s films for the very very obvious reasons.
(11) My own films for even more very very obvious reasons.
Hey women, children, well-wishers, spirits, critics, Police-men, criminals and Karan, I was just kidding.
And then maybe… I am not.

Ad-Venture cup=Way Forward from kolhapur
This e-mail describes how we go forward from kolhapur onwards.

In Theatre & also in certain college campuses if we get good no. of Entries.
2) Final begins on Day 2 either in morning or Late afternoon since this is 1st Episode

3) We could select Winner , runners-Up & also Top 10 of the Contestants.
4) Nos. 1, 3 , 5,7,9 can form one group. kolhapur 1
& Nos 2,4,6,8,10 can form a group Kolhapur 2.
5) These 2 Groups can be invited to Mumbai as a city team.
2nd Option is to form only one team of Top 5 or 6 & invite them to mumbai.
6) Every team would be eligible to have a Coach , which could be any of the contestants or
a different person. The coach would be selected by the Teams themselves.
7) Personally I feel 2 Groups should be invited from each city : No 1 & 2.
8) In Mumbai they can choose in their group any of the performers in their team
for any specialised talent which they might require.
9) We may have to decide on this by Saturday or on Tuesday at the time of show
when we meet so that good briefing can be given to examiners.

Better publicity for Ad-Venture cup Show
Sir,
In the 1st place , best luck for LAUNCH on 15 th August. You must be immensely busy & I hope the effort will be a great success.
As on date , we have completed 8 shows & are eagerly looking forward to our last shiow on 19th August.I wish to make following observations on this journey & movement called Ad-Venture Cup Show.
1) Publicity & drawing of target audience has been a major area of concern for all of us.
My suggestions are as under:
a) Before the shooting of episodes , for elimination Rounds, rather than sitting at theatres, we need to go to Colleges who can give us at least 10 genuine entries. On 1st day we can depute 2 units to prospective colleges & let the 3rd unit remain in the theatre. Each such unit would be accompanied by 1or 2 members of Core Team or direction dept.
We saw the impact of Mr. Pushkar's visit to Birla College at Kalyan who saved the day for usat Kalyan in spite of Ad going wrong.
b) Final shall definitely be held in the theatre.
c) For this to happen , we may send communications to various Colleges / Institutes thro' our Depots
of Sakal Publications.
May be we can give a talk to Mass communication & other allied courses.
2) At each centre ,Out of 3 days , we may hold Finals on 2nd Day afternoon or even on 3rd day.
3) As regards Publicity in Press or elsewhere , we may appoint a specialist, who is a Professional.
We at Akshaya Telemedia shall be glad to handle this if permitted.
4) we may start sending SMS/E-mails. to all the entrants from 15 th August after the launch of SAAM specially to kolhapur / Ratnagiri. If there is PRO of SAAM TV , he can certainly co-ordinate.
As Vivek said , this show must succeed & failure is not an option
I shall keep writing to you whenever something strikes me & shall request all of you to also write ./ respond.
Regards;
Sudhir v. joglekar

Kalyan Show Today on 12th August , 2008
Yesterday's Mumbai show was special because whatever crowd came was in spite of rains.
Show was good & now Today on to Kalyan.
Yesterday's interaction with crowds included following questions :
1) What about Intellectual Property Rights?
2) Why the publicity was low-key?
